The proposed 'Alderstone Road West' scheme is in initial development stages but WLC considers the following appropriate types of development for the area.
West Lothian Council have planned the construction of 1,200 new homes for rent in West Lothian in the period 2007-2012. These will be constructed in two phases, the first of which is already underway. The Alderstone Road site has been identified as a potential location for a phase two development. The target development start date for phase two is January 2010.
The site has been measured at 1.97 hectares and the proposed number of dwellings is 35 per hectare. This suggests around 68/69 new homes are to be built.
In addition to the housing, one and half parking spaces are to be provided for each dwelling - approximately 102 being required.
Access to the site will be through a new road directly opposite the southern entrance to Lidl (the one that's not shared with the football club).
The development will have 'a strong building line and active frontage to Alderstone Road'.
